My Thoughts on Everything You and I Could Have Been If We Weren’t You and I

When I was in university, one of my classmates recommended this book, and since I didn’t like my classmate, I thought the book was probably stupid. I even thought that as I got it and added it to my TBR list, which can tell you about how immature and sad I was during my late teens. I am in my late twenties, and I want to believe that I’ve matured and am a generally happier person. I also read the book I had been recommended, Everything You and I Could Have Been If We Weren’t You and I by Albert Espinosa, and I want to recommend it to you.

I think books come to us at the right time, and the fact that I read this book when I did confirms it. I’m not saying this because I feel that it has a deeper message that I needed to read, but more because I am in the right mindset now. People in this novel live several lives and might run into their beloved ones during those lives. They have also developed a drug that if injected will make people stop sleeping. As I’m writing this, it makes sense, but had I read this book ten or even five years ago, I think I would’ve dismissed it as absurd or plain dumb (which is what I thought about my former classmate, so there you go.)

The writing style reminded me of Camille Pagán’s, at least in English, although the novel’s original language is Spanish, so I’d like to see whether this vibe changes. I have already added the Spanish version to my TBR list so that I can see how I experience each read. I know that last time I told you that I had read probably one of my favorite books of the year, but I think this book I’m reviewing right now could be one of my favorite books of all time, or at least one of those life-changing books I would totally recommend.

I know that you’re probably curious as to what I was going through last week, so I’ll tell you now. I quit my job as a school teacher. (Yay!) I feel very relieved, so yes, you can celebrate with me. I also got another job pretty quickly, and it is related to teaching, and it even involves working at a school, but the conditions are different, and I feel that this change is going to improve my quality of life. I will also probably have more time to read and consume content, so don’t worry about the reviews, they’re still coming.
