Hello and happy Saturday. A few days ago I finished reading Yellow Brick War by Danielle Paige, which is the third book in the Dorothy Must Die series. I had recently finished the second book, and you can read my review by clicking here.

Now that I’m again familiar with the storyline and the characters, I feel like I enjoyed Yellow Brick War a lot more than The Wicked Will Rise, but I also think it has to do with the way the third novel was crafted. For one, there wasn’t as much gratuitous violence, and there wasn’t violence against animals, which was present in the second installment. Don’t get me wrong, you get a pretty lengthy (in my opinion) battle scene, and it was also very descriptive, (again, in my opinion). We also get a lot more romance and angst in this novel than we had in the previous ones, even though this is by no means a romance series.

I think that I made a good choice reading Yellow Brick War really soon after finishing The Wicked Will Rise because that way the story was still fresh in my mind. I’m going to take a longer break before I start reading the last book because I don’t have it yet and I already have a lengthy TBR and wishlist, but I will get to it and you’ll know what I think about it. I’m also going to read the novellas that are part of this series, so this is not the last you’ll read about Danielle Paige in this blog. Lastly, I’d say I would recommend this entire series to my students, especially those who’ve already read the OG series and want something along those lines, but that also is not as tropey as, well, Harry Potter.
