Hello and happy Sunday. Tomorrow I’m going back to work onsite and I’m equal parts excited and anxious about it. I also don’t know how that is going to affect my reading, but I suppose we’re going to experience a decline in pace. That being said, yesterday I finished reading Yes, Chef by Waitlyn Andrews. I’d like to thank NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Now, I felt like I’d been reading this novel for weeks and weeks on end. I just checked, and it’s 420 pages long, which means that it is longer than your average new adult romance book, and based on my experience, it did feel too long. There were entire situations that could have been either shortened or removed because I don’t think they did anything to advance the plot, and then the ending was super rushed and key events were glossed over.
Aside from the length, I didn’t really have any other issues with this novel. It was very self-aware, at times to a fault, but that didn’t deter me from enjoying the story. At times it made fun of the tropes that are so common in romance novels, and I think that was a witty addition. Would I recommend this novel? Yes. I’d also read other books from her author, especially if they feature characters from Yes, Chef.
