My Thoughts on Fifteen Hundred Miles from the Sun

Hello and happy Friday. This has been a long and busy week for me. Thankfully, I have been successful at both resting and getting stuff done, and today, as it rains, I can only think that I wish to be under a cozy blanket, reading. Fifteen Hundred Miles from the Sun by Jonny Garza Villa is the perfect book for that, whether you’re reading it with your eyes or, like me, via audiobook.

This is the story of Julián and how he starts and navigates an online relationship with Mat. It’s about coming out, and it deals with aspects related to identity, not only in terms of sexual orientation, but also how queerness is viewed and treated in different contexts. This is not a light read, but it leaves you feeling comforted in the fact that we are all worthy of being loved and of loving others, and that is perfect for a rainy day.
