Hello and happy Saturday. Do you remember how I was super excited that I had kept up my reading pace during August? Well, I was delusional because I will for sure not read as many books while I’m working than I do when I’m on vacation. I did manage to finish one novel this month (yay!). I’m talking about The Heiress by Rachel Hawkins.
I’ve read and enjoyed some of this author’s YA novels, so I knew the writing would be at least decent. It was actually more than that; I was thoroughly entertained throughout, even though there were some bits I was more interested in. The Heiress alternates between different timelines, and at its forefront we have Ruby McTavish, who is, you guessed it, the heiress to a huge fortune, which is left to her adoptive son, Camden, after she dies. I’m not sure whether this can be categorized as a thriller or literary fiction with thriller elements, but like I said, I liked the novel and will for sure be reading more adult pieces by Rachel Hawkins.
