Hello and happy Saturday. I woke up early-ish, listened to my audiobook, did some yoga and have been very productive while sipping water from a giant bottle (no, not a Stanley). Now, of course, I’ll share my thoughts on Look Both Ways by Jason Reynolds, which I read a few weeks ago while I was on vacation.
Something that you should know about me, though, is that I haven’t met a Jason Reynolds book I haven’t loved, and this short story collection, which takes place within the same street/neighborhood surrounding a school, is not the exception. I just love how this author makes seemingly small, mundane and unimportant situations into these amazing stories with characters we want to keep reading about.
As I’ve said before in other posts, Jason Reynolds books belong in every bookshelf that can be accessed by a middleschooler. I would no doubt recommend this short story collection to my former students, and I’d push for the school where I work to buy at least one copy of it.
