Hello and happy Saturday. I know that some people, like me, are a bit fed up with romcoms. In my case, it’s not that I don’t like romance, but sometimes I don’t like it to be at the forefront of the plot or I want it to be a little bit deeper. A book that checked those boxes and is a small town romance with a couple other tropes here and there is The Midnight Garden by Elaine Roth.
I listened to it on audiobook since it was available on Kindle Unlimited, and to me it was an alright, very forgettable but also very okay story. Our female main character lost her husband a few years ago when she was very young and she’s still dealing with all the emotions that event brought. Our male main character just got back to town after having suddenly left, and you can imagine or read the rest.
