Hello and happy Saturday. Like I said in a previous post, I got into several books by Lucinda Berry, which were available on KU. One of those was When She Returned, and even though it was released after The Perfect Child, it reads as way more amateur.

This story features a woman who went missing years earlier and whose husband remarries. I don’t remember if it was all told from the second wife’s perspective, but it’s there. As the title suggests, the missing woman returns and is under the care of her husband and daughter, who is now a teenager, and yes, the husband’s second wife. I think it’s one of those thrillers that keep readers interested throughout, especially as it alternates between the present and the past. What seemed amateur to me was the plot twist, which I felt was too absurd, even ridiculous, but I’m obviously not going to reveal any more details. If you do get it on KU and you have the chance, opt for the audio narration, which makes the experience richer.
