Hello and happy Sunday. You’ve probably heard about I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jeannette McCurdy. If you haven’t, this is a memoir by a former child actress who is narrating her difficult childhood and adolescence and her very complex relationship with her mom.

I read this in less than a week because I was drawn to the story, and I read it all from my phone because I was traveling and hadn’t taken any e-reader with me. It’s not that the book was amazingly written -it wasn’t, but it was captivating. Be forewarned, though: this isn’t a happy or hopeful story, and you shouldn’t expect any of that because I don’t think it’s present at all. I also suggest that you check trigger or content warnings and to make an informed decision on whether or not this book might be for you.
