Hello and happy Sunday. I feel that since maybe last year, bookish content creators have added these challenges to their repertoire in which they go through their TBR, essentially to either read or get rid of titles they’ve owned for months. I’ve been trying to do the same for a while, and it proves difficult because I don’t really care anymore about titles from the mid 2010s and instead I’m interested in new releases.
I’ve also mentioned that several books don’t really stand the test of time, and this is what happened to me when reading What You Left Behind by Jessica Verdi. In this novel, our main character is a teen dad whose girlfriend died giving birth or right after, and we basically follow him and his (obvious) struggles. I would’ve eaten this up when I was a high school senior and Teen Mom was all the rage, but now that I’m in my 30s and not a mom, at least not yet, this book was kind of stupid, really. I think the only reason why I didn’t DNF it was probably that it was a quick read and one I didn’t have to put too many brain cells to understand.
