My Thoughts on Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

Hello and happy Saturday. I just realized that I’ve probably referenced this title in a previous post/challenge because Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist was written by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn and their books were all the rage ten years ago, which is probably when I acquired it.

The challenge was about reading books I’d added to my TBR list years ago and see whether they’d hold up nowadays. I think this novel does because most (if not all) of the music references seem to be made up, and in my opinion it represents teenagers so well that they could be Millennials, Gen Z, or even Gen Alpha. There are also no references to anything that could be problematic, at least I don’t remember anything standing out, so it does pass the test.

In terms of plot, like the other novels these pair has co-authored, they feature and narrate from the perspective of a female and a male main character. Nick and Norah meet at a gig, and the novel follows the adventures they experience during one night/early morning. Given the timeline, this is one of those books you can easily read in a day, and even though it isn’t deep or memorable by any means, it’s not forgettable either.
