Hello and happy Sunday. Today I’ll review a book I’d had in my TBR list for years. To be completely honest, I had no hopes for This Raging Light by Estelle Laure. I thought it would be one of those pseudo-deep contemporary YA novels that were all the rage in the mid to late 2010s, but it sort of grew on me.
Our main character and her younger sister basically get abandoned by their mom after this family incident, and somehow all the adults around them either know or suspect that there are two children living by themselves, but nobody cares enough to do anything. I guess suspending disbelief is a must. Like I said, I did not hate it like I thought I would, but I wouldn’t say this is the kind of novel one is meant to enjoy, either. Check for trigger and content warnings, though, as this might not be the ideal book for some readers.
