Hello and happy Saturday. A few years ago, when I still had an active NetGalley account, I came across Talon the Black by Melissa Mitchell. This is the first installment in the Dragonwall series, and I loved it so much that I decided I’d continue with the next installments. Getting them was tricky, though because the second book was also on NetGalley, I think, but then Verath the Red, the third one, wasn’t, so I started reading it on Wattpad, and then, quite recently, I found it on Kindle Unlimited. In fact, all the books in this series are, which is amazing.

Now, since this is the third of seven books, I’m not going to tell you about the plot of this one, specifically. This is more like an invitation for you to read all of them. Look, I am not an avid fantasy reader. I checked my previous posts to see if I’d talked about Dragonwall before, and I realized I’m only reading two urban fantasy series at the moment. This one, though, has captured me and will not let me go until I’m done.

This is a continuous story, despite what the title of each volume might suggest. We begin with Claire, in our world, who ends up entangled in this mess and sent to this other, fantastic world where basically all of the plot takes place. In this new scenario there are dragons, goblins, pirates, and yes, there are also different types of magic. There are also politics involved, which are, surprisingly not as boring as I’d thought they’d be. If you’re an avid fantasy reader, I really can’t tell whether you’ll like this series, but if you’re more of a casual one, like me, I think you’ll love it.
