Hello and happy Saturday. I have made it sort of a goal to finish the series I’ve started over the years and to avoid starting new ones. I say “sort of” because really this is a soft goal. I won’t put any time constraints into it and I won’t really prioritize reading or buying series over other books. In a few months I will tell you about the series that I own books from already, and those are part of my TBR list.

There are also series in my wishlist because I can access the tomes from Kindle Unlimited. This was the case with the Dragonwall series by Melissa Mitchell. My reading experience of this series was like this: I read the first two volumes via NetGalley several years ago, then started reading the third one on Wattpad, got really annoyed, soft DNF’ed, and it wasn’t until last year that I discovered it on KU, got it and read it along with the subsequent volumes throughout the last months of 2025.

This is a fantasy series featuring Claire, a seemingly regular human who is sent to Dragonwall for reasons that will be explained throughout the plot. This world has different lands where magical creatures live, alongside humans. It features romance, especially since the third novel, but I don’t know enough about subgenres to call this a romantasy or something else. Each book spotlights a member of King Talon’s guard, but Claire is the protagonist and the story is to be read chronologically.

As someone who doesn’t read fantasy, this was a really interesting experience. I don’t give ratings, but if I did, I think the novels in this series would’ve gotten between 3.5 and 5 stars. Their lengths span from a little over 400 pages to halfway through 600. I’m not the fastest reader, but I was done with each book within a week or two. All in all, this series is worth a try.
