Hello and happy Saturday. Yesteray was a holiday, so today actually feels like a Sunday and I plan to read all day long and finish a book I’d started months ago. I also want to tell you about my thoughts on Shug by Jenny Han. I featured this title in a blog post a while back, and you can read all about it by clicking here. Basically, I want to read every book written by Jenny Han and see if I enjoy her as an author as much as I did years ago when I first came across her novels.

I’m not sure if Shug was the first book published by this author, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were. It is a middle-grade novel featuring Shug, who is in love with her best friend Mark, but Mark doesn’t care for her, like at all. I felt like I was listening to my students’ drama, which let me tell you, is kind of lame. We also get introduced to the love interest pretty early on and he’s the typical guy who gives the girl a hard time because he likes her. After reading this, I’m all the more convinced that Jenny Han is not the author for me, and I wouldn’t recommend Shug to anyone.
