My Thoughts on Road Queens

Hello and happy Sunday. As you have been able to read, my first week of vacation has been a productive one book-wise. Thanks to a Kindle Unlimited deal, I’ve been able to get back into audiobooks and that has me super excited. Sadly, that might end soon, or at least undergo a long pause. One of the books I’ve consumed this way is Road Queens by MaryJanice Davidson, which I’d originally gotten via NetGalley, but let expire. As I said yesterday, please don’t be like me.

Road Queens gave me ‘Good Girls’ vibes in the best way possible. You have a group of badass friends, but instead of getting together to commit crimes like the show, in this novel they help domestic violence victims in their town escape their difficult circumstances…while riding bikes. Even considering the evidently heavy topics, this was a refreshing story about friendship, second chances, and doing good. I also enjoyed the alternating perspectives and the varying lengths and formats of the chapters. It made me connect with the story in a way that more traditionally written and narrated novels would not allow.
