Hello and happy Sunday. I have a memoir for you that will remind you of Orange is the New Black, the show, not the book. Reading You’ll Never Believe Me by Kari Ferrell felt like watching the backstory of one of the inmates. If, like me, you don’t know who the author is, she was known as The Hipster Grifter in the early 2000s or the 2010s. Again, I’m not sure because I wasn’t familiar with her story beforehand. Basically, she’d con people into ‘lending’ her money, which she the paid back with bad checks. When she felt like she’d soon be found out, she’d leave the city. I’m pretty sure she mentions that she was in prison (or jail, I don’t know the difference) twice. Honestly, I didn’t hate this memoir, but I didn’t love it either. The author is sort of vapid, and so is her retelling of some of her life events. Towards the end, the read becomes quicker, but there’s this depth that she’s sort of just forcing unto the reader.
My Thoughts on You’ll Never Believe Me
