Hello and happy Saturday. It fills me with joy when I’m having a great reading streak, more so in terms of the quality of the books I’m reading rather than the number, although I must say that the latter tends to depend on the former. Last week I told you about Bear by Julia Phillips and how it had me on a chokehold for the entire long weekend, and then immediately after I was done I started reading Writers & Lovers by Lily King, and this book very quickly became my favorite of the year and maybe even one of my all-time favorites.

We follow Camila, though she goes by Casey, who’s a writer in her early thirties and works as a waiter to support her craft. Her mom recently passed away and she’s struggling with the grief but also everything that come with adulthood. The novel is set in the 90s, but it could easily be set in our day and age. I related so so so so much to our main character, not only because we share a name and are around the same age, but for deeper, more obscure reasons. I loved following her throughout this novel and I understood her choices while rooting for her to make the right ones. Like I said, this is a book I’d consider rereading and I’d definitely recommend.
