Hello and happy Saturday. It’s not a secret that most of the books I read are novels, but once in a while, I’ll come across a short story collection I like. This is Salvaged by Vauhini Vera was a book I read mainly because I thought it would only take me a couple of days, which was convenient since I was close to reaching my self-imposed deadline to the 2026 reading challenge. I decided that, since many, if not all the short stories had an element of grief, that I wasn’t going to rush with this collection. I would take a break, choose something else, and then come back to it. Obviously, as with any short story collection, there were pieces that I still remember vividly and that will stay with me for a while, and others I just forgot about. All in all, it is a solid piece and I’d recommend it, especially since I hadn’t really heard anything about it from the BookTubers I follow. I believe it needs more love.
