This felt like watching one of those 2010s Lifetime movies about people in their 30s online dating. There’s more to that, of course, since the main character is a mystery writer and is using an online service to get inspiration for her next book about a female serial killer, and her love interest is a cop who thinks she is an actual serial killer. If I hadn’t read this via audiobook, I probably would’ve DNFed it, not because there was anything problematic or structurally wrong, this was just mediocre writing. Was it entertaining? Sure, at times, but I think it was trying too hard to be original to the point where it became unrealistic.
