I think this is one of those books that people will either love or hate. I belong to the first group. We know from the get-go that this is a disturbing read that might not be suitable for some readers, and the author delivered on that warning. Basically, we follow a woman who gets somewhat tricked into becoming this man’s dog. I know I’m oversimplifying the premise, but I don’t want to say too much because I want people who are interested to find out about what happens in detail by reading or listening to the novel. I spent one entire day listening to the audiobook because I couldn’t stop, even when the descriptions were gory or grotesque. This is one of my favorite years of the year, and I already have the author’s backlisted novel in my wishlist.
