Hello and happy Monday. Today I’m bringing you a review of another road trip book. I promise I didn’t plan it like that, but if I’m being honest, I love stories that involve a journey. There’s also a third road trip book review coming soon, so if we have similar tastes, watch out for it.

The Truth is in the Detours by Mara Williams is heavier in the romance and lighter in the family aspects as Trust Me on This, so if you want a plot that is more centered maybe in an emerging relationship, without it necessarily being a romance novel, this is for you. It does have to do with heavy topics such as grief. In fact, the story starts right after the main character’s dad dies and she has to go to her hometown to clean up his house and sort out his affairs. It is then that she discovers a family secret, which is sort of what leads her to join her neighbor in this road trip. If I had to describe this novel in one word, it would be ‘smart,’ and you know, I like reading those types of books. Not everything has to be super silly all the time.
