Hello and happy Monday. Today’s and tomorrow’s posts are very interesting because I’ll be reviewing adult novels by authors that I used to read in my early 20s, when they’d write young adult. Let’s begin with Overdue by Stephanie Perkins, which was a treat.

I’ve always loved Stephanie Perkins’ writing style and how immersive her books are. This happened to me with her Anna and the French Kiss series, and it happened with Overdue. This is a novel featuring Ingrid, who is a librarian in her late twenties, as she navigates shifts in her very long relationship and is confronted with other life choices than one makes at that age. Synopses will tell you this is a romance, and yes, this is an aspect of the novel, but calling it that would definitely be selling it short. This is contemporary fiction. It is a hug and a pep talk in the form of a book. I really hope that the author keeps releasing adult novels because I’ll be reading them all.
