Hello and happy Saturday. Tomorrow I’m leaving for Europe and I’m kind of freaking out. You’re seeing this months later, and you’ll get some content about that trip, namely the books I read and/or bought there. I think that Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo would be a great airport/flight book because even though it deals with a heavy subject matter, it is a very quick read.

We get the perspectives of Camino and Yahaira, who live in Dominican Republic and the US respectively, and who find out about the existence of the other after their dad’s death. It is written in verse, as I think all Elizabeth Acevedo’s works are, and I think that helps with the ease and speed of the reading. I think this is one of those novels that just stays with you, and that sadly is relatable to many people, I think especially Latinos.
