Hello and happy Saturday. You’ll probably start seeing reviews of ‘summer books’ right about now because that’s what I like to read on vacation. I read Camp Sylvania by Julie Murphy thinking that it would be a quick read since this is middle grade and I generally like the author’s writing. It took me longer than I thought, but it wasn’t because I didn’t like it. It was a middle-of-the-road middle grade novel about a group of kids in a fat camp, which is run by vampires. I would’ve liked to see more about what happened in the actual camp, and also maybe a chapter or two from the perspective of the vampires. You could sort of tell that this author normally doesn’t write paranormal novels. I think there are better books out there, but I wouldn’t discourage anyone from reading this one either.
