Hello and happy Saturday. A few weeks ago, the day before my trip to Europe, the unthinkable happened. By that, I mean that my Kindle got into an accident involving water and died. I’ve had it for a while now, I’m talking close to ten years, so even though I truly wanted to save it, I knew it would be more practical and cost-efficient to get a new one. Added to this was the pain of having lost my equally old iPad when it died and never recharged just a few days prior.
I originally wanted to replace both devices with a reMarkable because I think it would serve its limited purpose perfectly. I could read my books and use it to write occasionally. I only used my iPad as an e-reader and to play games, and I could do without the former. It also costs a little under what an iPad does, so it was perfect. The problem? It doesn’t ship to Colombia. I decided that instead of buying a new iPad (are you taking a shot every time you see that word?) and underuse it, I would get a new Kindle, which is what I did.
Now, I got the 2024 12 Generation, which I think is the newest version there is, and I’ve had a great experience with it so far, even better than with my Kindle Fire, or its predecessor, a pretty basic refurbished one. I take great care of my things, so they’re very durable. I’ve also taken advantage of the 90-day Audible free trial, which means I have three credits, one per month. I’m using it to consume the most expensive titles in my wishlist that are available as audiobooks. So yeah, here’s to new beginnings.
